The Passover holiday is the celebration of God liberating the Jew's from oppression in Egypt. Per tradition since liberation, Jew's have a long and multi-faceted meal telling over the story of how they came to be in Egypt, how they were oppressed, and all the great things after they were liberated from Egypt through Gods divine intervention. Therefore the Passover holiday is called in Hebrew the 'Holiday of Liberation'. The matzah is the unleavened flat bread that was said to have been baked on the backs of the Jew's as they were fleeing from Egypt.
